Let’s go back to The Beginning

Before you were born,

before you had your first thought,

what were you?

What Are you?

In preparation for the third novel in the Unfolding series, I’ve had to research these questions. When we strip everything away what’s left at the core?

The search for the soul as been with us longer than our history. Stories of the earliest inquiries I’ve heard said the ancients connected it with breathing. Why? Because once the breath stopped – there was nothing.

We are fortunate to live in a time where science is able to devise human experiments that are less injurious to their subjects than our ancestors. Today researchers are able to image a living brain in ways that that monitor variables such as blood flow to indicate activity in specific regions and from that are able to identify brain functions to create a map of the brain.

True mind reading through technical means is not yet possible, but it’s getting closer.

One school of thought says consciousness is nothing more than sensory input and an awareness mechanism in a perturbed state. In the largest sense, not only are we aware, but there are those same stimulus/response mechanisms available at the cosmic level. The researcher explaining this concept could not bring himself to say God exists. In his mind it’s all about the combination of input and awareness interacting.

In pre-consciousness what are you?

What are you when you are beyond thought?

What’s there?

This is where I live.

Here’s a video worthy of your consideration:

Beyond Thought (Awareness Itself)

Look for me there,
