Candice

Her self-assurance was formed in the crucible of Awakening.

Two souls bound together during what is considered a rare event when it happens to one person. Candice had dated Drew when they were in high school. They had been friends with a special relationship, the extent of which would not be revealed to them until well after the event subsided.

Abandoned by a husband who could not accept her telepathic connection with another man, Candice became a single mother with two small children. Needing a place to stay during the divorce, she withdrew to Brightwood Spiritual Retreat where she lived for over a year in a tiny cabin while deciding what to do next.

Drew offered his home, though both were aware Drew’s wife Carol was having difficulty adjusting to the new conditions of her marriage. It was bad enough knowing her husband’s mind was in near constant communication with a woman from his past, to have Candice move in with them would have been too much and too soon.

The decision to remain at Brightwood was the first of many that would crystallize her new personality. She would not be deterred.

Drew once noted, that at first, when he and Candice were locked in disagreement, it felt like he was being smothered. She, of course, could say the same about him.

Candice would sometimes watch Carol through her new partner’s eyes. Carol, a psychic in her own right, became aware of it and learned Drew and Candice shared a love that was different than the one Carol shared with him. Through it all, they remained together. So close in fact that Drew’s mother, Deebee Hopewell, decided to adopt Candice into the family.

Over the following years the intensity of their initial telepathic bond lessened, but it never went away.

Candice returned to university, eventually completing her doctorate in computer science specializing in the fields of artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

One more thing — within days of the initial awakening, she and Drew started to share a common dream ….
