In this, the subchapter Consequences, Drew reflects on his meeting Tyler in a place few people know of and fewer are able to visit. His musings are interrupted by a visit first from his sister Candice — then a powerful being.

____

Consequences

(Drew’s Voice)

– SINGAPORE, Drew’s Dreamscape, March, Sunday, 1:15 PM –

In the dream, I sat quietly on the patio. The plaque of images was now before me on the table where Tyler and I had been sitting. The one set that had become fully resolved was certainly Tyler/former wife.

Where is this leading?

If Tyler and I had anything to complete from that lifetime, it would not be sexually based. We would both be too averse to the idea.

With a growing awareness of another presence entering the dream, I watched the next image on the plaque resolve into that of my sister, Candice. With my peripheral vision, I saw, and simultaneously felt, her hand on my right shoulder. Raising my left hand, I returned the touch, bringing her hand to my lips and placing a kiss upon it.

“Good night, Sister. Listening to me dream?”

Withdrawing her hand so quickly it may as well have turned to smoke, she took a seat next to me.

“I fear it will not be good for long, My Brother. We are entering a new phase that may cause you great pain.”

“I’ve felt pain before.”

“Drew, you can’t fix the whole world. You have to let people do what they want and allow them to bear the consequences.”

“I am part of those consequences.”

“You go around involving yourself with too many emotionally sick people and you’ll wind up absorbing more than you can transmute. I am a part of the consequences every time you take on someone like this! He’s poisoned!”

“He was presented to me, Candice. I did not seek him out and therefore I cannot ignore his need. It is part of The Great Work. Should he ultimately choose to refuse my help, I’ll willingly stand aside.”

“What about that woman friend of yours? Do you know what they are involved in?”

“That is another sad part of it. As you fear for me, I fear for her. When she lost her marriage, she was an emotional wreck. I didn’t know her well when it happened, though I felt her abandonment and physical distress to the point of nausea. It was one of those experiences where you just have to watch and wonder what possible connection could be manifesting itself.

“Now, a decade later, the reasons are as unknown as at the beginning.

“There wasn’t much I could do at the time, as it was shortly after the awakening and there were too many events that we were already trying to keep in balance.

“Lots of people at IntelliCon tried to help. Tyler, who I did not know at the time, was the one she eventually connected with. Through him she was able to put her life back in order, after a fashion at any rate.”

“She sucked him into her drama, Brother. He is married! She did him no good and would have done the same to you if you had tried to help her.”

“Yes. The way events unfolded, I would have been Tyler. I wouldn’t have done any better in the condition I was in. Andrea is alive and well today because of his actions. How can I not accept his request, even if it initially came via her? People don’t have to suffer so‍—‍”

“Terribly and they don’t have to suffer in such drastic ways to compensate for the pain they have given others.’ Yes, I know it and you know it, but getting HIM to know it without exposing yourself will not happen! I have seen Tyler’s family with my vision, Drew. I started looking after he left. Do you know he has two daughters who he barely sees because he travels so much?”

“No,” I said. “His family never came up in our conversations, or in my paranormal awareness.”

“But you knew something was odd. Right? That’s just like a man.”

“No, Candice. That’s just like a human, or this human at any rate. Accepting what you say is true; I would still have had to agree to help. The difficulties I have seen him having these last few hours demonstrate how Tyler is currently at risk. If he doesn’t make the cut, he’s not going to be good for anyone near him.

“Something like 20 percent of people in marriages cheat. Maybe half of all marriages fail. I don’t know if the marriages that survive have active cheaters in them or not. I am not smart enough to know if monogamy is helping or hurting people who need more than one partner.”

“Well I’ll tell you, Drew! Cheating doesn’t help anyone!”

“How can we ever have a better world, Candice, if people who need help are left to reinforce and perpetuate their twisted or misunderstood realities?”

“The younger daughter is on the verge of rebellion, Drew. If he doesn’t start spending time with that one, she will hit the streets living only for drugs.

“He’s taught the older girl self-defense so she can protect herself, but forgot to balance his fear of her getting pregnant too early with some kind of common–sense practices to let her enjoy the company of young men, so she winds up a man-eater, screwing up more lives.”

“That’s all the more reason I should offer my help. What chance would the children have if he implodes?”

“That’s not the point! You can’t save a person simply because you feel some vibe with them!” Almost as a sigh she ended with, “They have their own life’s plan. Let it play out awhile longer.”

“Did you see when Tyler was here?”

“Yes, that’s why I’m afraid you could be badly hurt this time. You didn’t teach him to clear himself. Instead, you transferred his pain to yourself, letting him go freely to make the same blundering mistakes.”

“The pain has already dissipated. Look,” I said as I momentarily stood, offering her a view of my astral self. “I was able to operate high enough above his reality that his pain did not become my pain.” Returning to my chair, I took her hand. “I was merely a channel. I converted his perceptions of uncertainty and fear into a state that allows him to continue exploring his new awareness.”

Candice pulled away. “You did it too quickly and with no instruction. The fact that you did it here, in dreamtime, means he won’t remember it well either.

“He’s more likely than not to simply burn out. Maybe that’s not such a bad idea, though. His family will not suffer any additional stigma after the affair is found out and will be allowed to get on with their lives. He isn’t there anyhow. His home is more of an office and laundry service than a loving environment. They would adapt quickly.”

“Candice! If he burns out, his life will most likely end in suicide. How’s that going to allow his family to move on?”

“I was hoping for a heart attack. You know, the headline might read ‘Distraught Traveler Dies Alone in Hotel Room’ … that kind of thing. He has enough turmoil inside that it is a possibility. He knows the strain his work and lifestyle are having on his family, but he can’t see how he can do anything else. Without a firm commitment to work on repairing the damage in his relationships, it might be his best exit strategy.”

“Oh, it can’t be that bad. The family has to have some healthy feelings towards him. What about his wife?” I asked. “She has to be a part of this affair in some way, too.”

“I have only caught a glimpse of her so far. She is distant. Since you told me Tyler is gone so often, I don’t find that unusual. Her remoteness may have contributed to his affair. She appears to me only from the neck up. That would mean she is in her head, and not completely engaged with the family either.”

“Carol tells me Tyler will protect Andrea, so I assume they will continue to have some relationship after he peaks and enters a stable condition. Maybe Carol can give you knowledge. I know better than to ask her. I am too close to Andrea, and it would be impolite.”

“Brother, you do like skating on the edge don’t you?”

“Sister, I like doing my job. I did not ‘involve’ myself, as you say, and don’t know how this will turn out. But I have the reserves to see Tyler and Andrea, and maybe his family, through to their next opportunities, if that’s the way things are supposed to be.”

“Make this life a long one, Drew. I would miss you terribly if you have misjudged.”

Beginning with a small vibration, the plaque on the table changed before our eyes with the remaining images coming into focus. We felt and saw the energy in the dreamscape shift as the presence of another entity became manifest. It started as a twisting, growing amorphous shape, quickly becoming a humanoid form.

“What is your name?” I demanded.

“I have no name, at present.”

“Stand fast and state the reason you’re here.” The creature had been careful about revealing its identity in order to make it more difficult for my sister and me to limit its action in the dreamscape. I was being equally diligent in my wording to avoid giving it an easy way to take direct action against us.

Candice, who still liked to use tools in the dream worlds, had produced a violet flame, floating chest high, which quickly spread into a translucent protective field between us and our visitor.

“We require a meeting of minds regarding your affairs. As your practice has allowed a stable container of sufficient capacity, and you have done it before, we wish to meet here.”

Only once. I thought to myself, there wasn’t a lot of choice in the matter.

“You enjoyed it and continuously reinforced this environment with the hope it would happen again. This is the now in which that is to occur.”

With that, the flame Candice was using to keep the creature at bay went out. We looked at each other. I saw from the slight movement of her eyes that she had not removed the barrier.

Our guest, now fully formed, had the appearance of a mature Asian woman. Like almost everyone I meet in the spirit world, she was fit and without blemish.

Scars and signs of a harsh life, such as missing limbs and wrinkles, need not be present on the astral plane.

People you know, as when I saw Tyler, generally appear taller, more youthful and fit than in their corporeal forms. She was no exception, projecting a unified look of youth and experience.

Her garment was a simple orange gown that appeared to be silk with no additional ornamentation. Her hair was jet black, her eyes a surprising sparkling blue, and her smile was one that possessed no affectation.

“I find that jewelry and excessive elegance detract from the message,” she began. “Let us sit to briefly discuss our agenda.

“Candice is rightfully concerned about your safety, Drew.”

I started to speak, but The Lady continued.

“There is no denying the danger. Yet, this is why you live, is it not?”

____

The novel is available for the Kindle at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006UOF03W and for the Nook at
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/unfolding-jeffrey-limpert/1108321592

– Jeffrey A.
