Can we manufacture it? Or do we bring it with us when we enter this world?<\/p>\n<p>In this somewhat whimsical episode, Derren Brown and his team look into the beliefs people have about themselves, the nature of life, and luck.<\/p>\n<p>A park in the village of Todmorden in Yorkshire, England, has a statue of a small dog. The mission is to see if the townsfolk can be brought to the conclusion that it is a &#8220;lucky statue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a lot of information packed into this show \u2013 and you get a sense of how rumors take hold and influence a given population.<\/p>\n<p>One scene shows a psychic who, if she were a little more intuitive and a little less caught up in the story, may have gotten it right. We&#8217;re all vulnerable to tricks of the mind, especially tricks organized by others intent on fooling us.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O4mN33w5Ftw\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Without revealing the ending, I have to ask, &#8220;What do you think happened before the roll of the die?&#8221;<br \/>\nIs this an example of psychic crowd sourcing, or is Derren Brown that in tune with what it takes to manipulate his audience?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wuhbkpwDccc\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" align=\"right\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Remember the friend I mentioned the post <a href=\"https:\/\/unfoldingseries.com\/illusion\/derren-brown-my-favorite-skeptic\/\" target=\"_blank\">Derren Brown: My Favorite Skeptic<\/a> who was convinced a stage magician possessed the power of teleportation? This is another decision you will have to make when you see these kinds of events.<\/p>\n<p>In the short clip on the right, you&#8217;ll hear Derren&#8217;s thoughts on luck.<\/p>\n<p>I think he is largely right. I commend him, and this is coming from a person who believes in greater realities.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, I&#8217;m still not going to wear my red shirt to work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211;<\/strong> <em><strong>Jeffrey A.
